🔸Oil prices on Thursday, 19 Shahrivar, rose to above $100 per barrel one day after Iran announced it had attacked more than a dozen ships that attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
🔸Brent crude, the benchmark for international contracts, which first rose above $100 for the first time since July on Wednesday, was traded in Asian early trading on Thursday at $101.28 per barrel.
🔸The price is the highest level for oil in nearly two months.
🔸The rise in crude prices came after Iranian state media reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked two American ships, eight oil tankers, and 10 “stubborn/rogue ships” that had attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
🔸The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Organization said on Wednesday, 18 Shahrivar, that several commercial vessels in the northern part of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman were targeted by fire during the military clashes of the previous night in the area.
🔸Donald Trump, the U.S. president, on Wednesday promised: “Right after the election, the price of oil will fall sharply... We will bring the price of gasoline to less than two dollars per gallon.”
