Many citizens, over the past few days, have been sharing videos with bitter humor about inflation. After the announced prices of the goods they have bought, they say: “We’re happy about the price hikes because if they weren’t, we would be executed.”

These remarks are a jab at what the judiciary officials of the Islamic Republic call “black propaganda” and “disturbing public opinion.” In response to the rise in the price of the dollar, the worsening of the economic crisis, and the posting of these videos, an Iranian citizen says: “We’re dying with inflation, poverty, and deprivation. You don’t need to provide a platform for us to climb.”
