🔺 Iraq’s new prime minister heads to Washington for his first visit with Trump

▪The Iraqi prime minister left Baghdad for Washington on Monday, leading a delegation of government and economic officials. This is his first foreign trip since the formation of the government.

▪Mr. Zeydi is traveling to the United States at the invitation of Donald Trump and is expected to meet with the U.S. president for the first time.

▪According to the spokesperson for the Iraqi government, the focus of this week-long trip is strengthening economic relations and investment. Several oil and gas memorandums of understanding will be signed to enable the entry of American companies and increase oil production capacity.

▪After the heavy losses caused by the halt in oil exports and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Iraq urgently needs to attract American investment.
