🔸Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Abbas Iraqchi, on Saturday, 3 Mordad, in a phone conversation with Kaya Kallas, the EU’s foreign policy chief, strongly condemned the attack attributed to Ukraine on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea and called for a reaction from the UN Security Council, the European Union, and the international community, and for “the perpetrators and supporters of this attack” to be held accountable.
🔸Iran’s Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that Ukraine’s attack on an Iranian commercial ship in the Caspian Sea left one person dead and one injured, and called the action “aggressive”; Kyiv says it has targeted ships carrying military cargoes linked to Iran.
🔸These demands by Hossein Abbas Iraqchi come as France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States had previously accused Tehran of sending ballistic missiles and drones for Russia’s use in the war in Ukraine and imposed sanctions on Iran in this connection.
🔸The Tasnim news agency also reports that, following Ukraine’s attack on vessels in the Caspian Sea, on Saturday night, Ukraine’s acting chargé d’affaires in Tehran was summoned by Manoochehr Moradi, assistant to the foreign minister and director-general of Eurasia.
