🔻 France’s Embassy in Tehran Denies “Tehran Times” Report About a Diplomatic Meeting

In an ironic response, the French Embassy in Tehran has denied the English-language newspaper “Tehran Times”’ report about the holding of a meeting at the residence of the French ambassador.

In a post addressed to reporters of the newspaper on the official account of the French Embassy on X, it wrote: “Next time, please check your information with your friends in Iran’s intelligence services, which have about ten cameras monitoring the French Embassy. Unfortunately, no ceremony was held at our embassy on July 20.”

Previously, “Tehran Times” claimed that on the evening of July 20, a number of European ambassadors and diplomats from other countries had gathered at the invitation of the French ambassador at his residence in Tehran.

The newspaper also attributed quotes to French and German ambassadors and a British diplomat; including about the departure of British diplomats from Iran, political pressure from the United States on Tehran, and the several-hour detention of two French diplomats.

Emphasizing that no such meeting had been held, the French Embassy denied the report by “Tehran Times” and the details and quotes cited in it.

“Tehran Times” is an English-language newspaper close to Iran’s ruling establishment and aligned with the official positions of the Islamic Republic. The newspaper operates together with the Mehr News Agency in the Mehr media group.
