Following the targeting of five IRGC oil tankers by U.S. military forces, oil prices rose in global markets.
At the time this report was set, on Wednesday morning, the benchmark Brent oil price reached $99.12, 1.2% higher than the previous day.
Late on the previous evening, the United States, following attacks by the IRGC on U.S. naval vessels, targeted five tankers of the Islamic Republic.
Tanker Trackers says the tankers targeted included Chaharmeen, Kawees, Horizon 1, Risco, and Darya, which together have transported 45 million barrels of Iran’s oil and oil products since 2019.
In response to the U.S. attacks, the IRGC claimed attacks on 2 American vessels, 8 oil tankers, and 10 ships. No international body has confirmed these attacks so far.
