🎥 “Doman Radmehr,” an Azerbaijani Turkish activist and secretary of the Azerbaijan Democracy and Development Party, tells IranWire that in international laws the right to self-determination does not mean separatism or changing borders. Emphasizing that in Iran, regarding nationalities subjected to discrimination and oppression, the right to self-determination would take the form of autonomy and federalism, he says that in Iran, due to a nationalist and Shia-oriented political system, any community that is not Persian and Shia is subjected to discrimination.
According to this Turkish political activist, equating the right to self-determination with disrupting territorial integrity is a political issue that serves the interests of the political system governing Iran and sets the Iranian people against each other.
