🔶 Concern about an Iran attack; some Israeli cities reopen public shelters

The municipalities of Ramat Gan, Eilat and Karmiel in Israel announced that, after urban security assessments, they had reopened all of their public shelters because, according to officials in these cities, the likelihood of missile fire from Iran over the weekend had increased and could no longer be “overlooked.”

Carmel Shama-Hacohen, the mayor of Ramat Gan, said in a message on social media: “We decided to open all of the city’s shelters.”

He added: “The situation assessment showed that the risk of missile fire from Iran over the weekend has increased and is no longer negligible. Despite the costs of opening shelters, greater caution is the right decision, and we hope this measure proves unnecessary.”

The mayor asked the committees of residential buildings to ensure that the buildings’ shared shelters are ready and accessible.

He emphasized that this decision is a precautionary measure by the municipality and is not the result of a new warning from the command of Israel’s Home Front.
