🔶 Baghayi: Progress was made in negotiations with Oman over the Strait of Hormuz

Ismail Baghaei, Spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced on Sunday, 4 Mordad (26 July) that Tehran and Muscat have made progress in their negotiations regarding the management of the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, but the situation of ship transit through this waterway has not changed.

According to Baghaei, the deputy foreign ministers of Iran and Oman held several rounds of talks in Tehran on Friday and Saturday. In these negotiations, the two sides discussed shared principles and operational mechanisms for managing the safe passage of ships in the Strait of Hormuz, while respecting the sovereign rights of Iran and Oman as two coastal states.

The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described these talks as useful and said that progress had been achieved. He added that the Omani delegation left Tehran on Saturday evening, but technical and political consultations between the two countries continued

The Tehran–Muscat talks took place after the United States resumed its attacks with the aim of ending Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz. These attacks resumed after the June agreement to end the war.
