Axios, citing American officials, reports that on Tuesday of this week, for the first time in the latest round of fighting, the U.S. Army used a “B-1” fighter against targets related to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The strategic “B-1” bombers are able to carry two-thousand-pound bunker-busting bombs to destroy underground facilities, and in the 39-day war these aircraft were also used to target the Islamic Republic’s underground nuclear and missile facilities.

Axios writes that the “B-1” fighter that took part in Tuesday’s operation departed from a British base, but it is still not clear what targets it attacked in Iran.

CENTCOM, in its statement as well, without referring to the involvement of this strategic aircraft, said that the U.S. Army targeted military operation centers, naval capabilities, aircraft hangars, drone maintenance facilities, and Iran’s military logistics infrastructure in order to further weaken Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
