🔶 Trump: Iran called a little while ago; they strongly want to reach an agreement
Donald Trump, the president of the United States, in response to a question from reporters on the special aircraft of the president (Air Force One), said that Iran “called a few moments ago; they strongly want to reach an agreement”.
At the same time, Trump expressed doubt about the Islamic Republic’s adherence to any agreement and said: “I just don’t know whether they are worthy of making a deal or not. I don’t know whether they’re going to stick to a deal or not—the problem is that.”
He also, in response to this question of why, if the Islamic Republic wants to reach an agreement, it attacks commercial ships, said: “They’re somewhat crazy. They’ve gotten a little out of control, but they want to reach a deal—very badly.”
The U.S. president also warned the Islamic Republic about attacks on U.S. interests in the region and said: “Every time they hit us, we will hit them twenty times.”
Trump’s remarks are being made as Axios, a news website, published a report quoting U.S. officials that the United States is preparing for a multi-day or even multi-week military engagement with the Islamic Republic over the Strait of Hormuz.
In the latest developments, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) early on Thursday, 18 Tir (July 9), announced in a statement that American forces wrapped up another round of attacks against Iran. The statement said that American forces targeted around 90 Iranian military sites, “including air defense systems, coastal surveillance equipment, missile and drone storage facilities, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along Iran’s coasts”.
