🔶 Kayhan calls for a shift in nuclear approach and strengthening military posture
Kayhan newspaper on Wednesday, 24 Tir (15 July), in an op-ed criticized the continuation of the diplomacy process with the United States and called for an official announcement of an end to the nuclear understanding and for a change in the government’s approach in strategic areas.
The newspaper, referring to the United States’ withdrawal from the nuclear deal and what it calls Washington’s “breach of commitment,” claims that Iran’s continued adherence to this process will have no result other than “weakening national authority.”
Kayhan has urged the government of Masoud Pezeshkian to officially announce the end of this understanding and to review the country’s policies based on “strengthening self-reliant power” and “activating military posturing in economic, defense, and nuclear dimensions.”
The newspaper considers the development of Iran’s missile capabilities and the use of the country’s strategic capacities, including the Strait of Hormuz, as elements of the country’s deterrence.
Kayhan also wrote that “the Strait of Hormuz is Iran’s winning card,” and that the fate of this strategic waterway should be determined by Iran.
