Britain, France and Germany condemned the Islamic Republic’s attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and on regional countries in a joint statement, which is the latest coordinated position of the three countries on the escalation of tensions.
In the statement, published on the evening of Sunday, 21 Tir, it said: “We condemn Iran’s reckless attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and on regional countries, including Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Jordan.”
The three countries called for the rapid resumption of commercial shipping. They emphasized freedom of navigation based on international law and urged both sides to return to ceasefire negotiations.
The statement was issued after the U.S. military carried out a fresh wave of attacks on Islamic Republic military positions, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain with missiles and drones.
On Sunday, traffic in the Strait of Hormuz fell to the lowest level in five weeks, with only six ships transiting.
