A court in Israel sentenced a soldier accused of spying for the Islamic Republic to five years in prison.
The Israel Defense Forces said that the soldier received messages via Telegram in 2025 offering a job from various people, some of whom were linked to Iran, and that one of these Iranian contacts offered him payment in return for carrying out “several photography and filming missions.”
According to the results of the investigations, the soldier sent two videos of missile tracking during the June 2025 war between Iran and Israel, along with several other films, to the Iranian contact.
The Israel Defense Forces said: “In the end, after the accused felt pressure, he informed one of the unit members about his contact with a foreign agent, and the following day he was arrested by Shin Bet.”
The identity of the soldier and the name of the unit in which he served are still subject to a publication ban.
