Pakistani government officials announced on Tuesday, July 7 (16 Tir), that the incident occurred amid an increase in violence in the region. The incident took place in Ziarat district. A group of militants on Monday attacked a police post in the Mengi Dam Project area. Shaheed Rind, the spokesperson for the Balochistan government, attributed the attack to the banned group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The militant group is known for decades of attacks in Pakistan and is classified in the country as a terrorist organization. Zahir Ahmad, one of the local police officials, said: “At least 9 police personnel, including two officers, were killed in this attack.”
