Oman’s foreign minister said his country does not support imposing transit fees in the Strait of Hormuz and described such a move as prohibited under international law. He said Muscat is committed to these laws.
He also stressed that it is Iran’s responsibility to ensure shipping lanes are free of any mine-related risks.
However, Oman’s foreign minister did not rule out charging for services on the grounds of improving navigation safety, preparing for emergencies, and responding to pollution.
