Ukraine said Russian missile and drone attacks targeted energy infrastructure overnight, leaving parts of the country without power. Officials said the strikes caused outages in several regions, adding pressure to a grid that has faced repeated attacks during the war.
The latest barrage comes as Ukraine continues to repair damage to its energy system and protect critical infrastructure from long-range strikes. Energy facilities have remained a frequent target since Russia’s full-scale invasion began, disrupting electricity supply, heating, and essential services for civilians.
Ukrainian authorities did not immediately provide a full damage assessment, but regional reports indicated blackouts in multiple areas after the assault. Emergency crews were working to restore service and assess the impact on infrastructure.
The overnight attacks underscore the continuing civilian cost of Russia’s campaign against Ukraine’s infrastructure, with households and businesses again forced to cope with interruptions to basic utilities.
