The UN spokesperson said on Tuesday, during a press briefing in New York, that Antonio Guterres is «deeply concerned» about the «continuation and escalation of military tensions between the Islamic Republic and the United States over the past days».
According to Stéphane Dujarric, Guterres is «particularly concerned» about attacks on civilian infrastructure in Iran, including a nuclear power plant under construction and a desalination plant, as well as power plants and desalination plants in Kuwait and other places.
Guterres called these attacks «unacceptable» and said they must be stopped immediately and that vital infrastructure such as hospitals and water facilities must be protected.
According to Dujarric, Guterres has again stressed that there is no military solution and that any agreement must also include full freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
