🔻U.S. Treasury Secretary Warns About Consequences of Dealing With Iranian Airlines
Following the announcement of new U.S. sanctions, Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, has warned those who do business with Iranian airlines.
He wrote on the social media platform X: “As part of our economic removal operations, we promised that we would impose heavy consequences on those who provide the Iranian regime with vital financial arteries.”
The U.S. Treasury Secretary continued: “Today, we carried out that promise by imposing sanctions on companies that continue to support Mahan Airlines.”
“Let this be a warning for those who do business with the remaining Iranian airlines—all of which we sanctioned today: You are at risk of having your access to the global financial system cut off.”
Hours earlier, the U.S. government announced that it will place “all Iranian airlines” that had not previously been sanctioned on its sanctions list.
The U.S. says it is taking this step as part of its campaign to economically isolate Iran.
The U.S. Treasury Department said that, in its latest action, it has sanctioned 36 individuals and entities for supporting Iranian aviation.
