🔶 The United States has imposed sanctions on three institutions based in Turkey in relation to Iran
The U.S. Treasury Department announced the imposition of new sanctions, continuing the policy of “economic exile” against Iran.
The ministry said on Friday, September 4 (Shahrivar 13), that it had sanctioned a Turkish bank for its ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC); an action carried out as part of Washington’s efforts to isolate Tehran economically, six months after the start of the war between the two sides.
In this new move, the “Golden Global” bank and its affiliated companies were targeted; in other words, three entities—“Golden Global Yatirim Bankasi Anonim Sirketi,” “Golden Global Varlik Kiralama Anonim Sirketi,” and “Golden Global Portfoy Unitimli Anonim Sirketi”—were sanctioned.
The U.S. Treasury Department said the bank “facilitated transactions worth tens of millions of dollars” for the IRGC.
It is also claimed that the Golden Global bank provided Tehran with “key access to correspondent banking,” enabling Iran to move its funds internationally.
