The Pentagon, in a statement, announced that it has officially confirmed the identity of the body of Sgt. Angel Rempersad.

It had previously been assessed that this American servicemember was killed during the Islamic Republic’s attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan on Friday of last week while carrying out a mission.

According to the Pentagon’s statement, the identification confirmation was carried out by the Armed Forces’ forensic medicine system.

Rempersad, 28, from Ozone Park in the state of New York, was promoted to the rank of sergeant after his death.

The three other U.S. servicemembers who were killed in the attacks of last week were also promoted to higher ranks posthumously.
