Syria, for the second time in three days, has discovered and seized large quantities of weapons sent by the Islamic Republic through Iraq to Hezbollah.
Images published in Syrian media on Sunday indicate that the weapons shipments were found among the loads of truck crates of cucumbers.
Syria’s Ministry of Interior says the “advanced” weapons seized at the border with Iraq include long-range missiles, anti-tank missiles, and drones, and that the shipments were intended to be delivered to what it calls the “terrorist group Hezbollah.”
A Syrian security source said that all information related to arms smuggling will be provided to the Iraqi government so that investigations into the network of sending weapons through Syrian territory to Hezbollah can be carried out.
Last Thursday, Syria also seized an arms shipment sent to Hezbollah.
