On Saturday, 14 Shahrivar 1405, a fuel tanker exploded on the Sanandaj–Hamadan route, and as a result of a widespread fire caused by the incident, at least 12 people lost their lives.
Babak Hedayi, head of the Emergency and Pre-Hospital Services of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences, told Iranian media that the incident led to several vehicles catching fire at the scene and that, in total, 12 people died there.
According to Hedayi, after being informed of the accident, rescue forces arrived at the scene and transferred five injured people to Kowsar Hospital in Sanandaj for medical care.
He added that rescue and cleanup operations at the accident site are still ongoing with the presence of rescue and fire department forces, and further details about this incident will be announced after the completion of the operations.
