🔻The decision to remove American rapper Macklemore from continuing Ed Sheeran’s concert tour has sparked controversy because of his statements in support of Palestinians.
Macklemore said on Monday that he had been removed from continuing with the tour. In July, during one of his performances, he chanted “Free Palestine.”
The incident has prompted widespread reactions, and even some artists and staff associated with Ed Sheeran’s concerts in the United States have stopped cooperating in protest of this decision. Ed Sheeran says he had no role in the decision to remove Macklemore.
In the latest development, after Macklemore announced that he would donate one million dollars of his earnings from performing concerts in the United States to organizations supporting Palestinians, Robert Kraft, the owner of the Gillette Stadium near Boston—who had ordered Macklemore’s expulsion—said that Ed Sheeran has also allocated two million dollars for humanitarian aid in the region and asked him to donate a similar amount. 📷 ARNAUD FINISTRE / AFP via Getty Images
