🔻هشدار لاوروف به واشنگتن درباره ارسال تسلیحات به اوکراین
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Sergei Lavrov, the country’s foreign minister, on Thursday, during a meeting with Marco Rubio, his American counterpart, in Manila, warned Washington against continuing to send arms to Ukraine and called it “unacceptable.”
In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Lavrov told the U.S. secretary of state: “Continuing to provide weapons to Kyiv is unacceptable.”
Speaking in the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) foreign ministers’ meeting, the Russian foreign minister also condemned what he called the “destabilizing policy of European countries” and said these countries are still seeking to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia.
This is the first official meeting between the foreign ministers of Russia and the United States since last September; a meeting that took place at a time when Washington’s focus shifted from mediating the war in Ukraine to addressing the war crisis in the Middle East.
In a brief statement, the U.S. State Department said Rubio and Sergei Lavrov discussed “U.S.-Russia relations and the need to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.”
According to Moscow’s statement, Lavrov once again emphasized that Russia is ready to reach a “political and diplomatic solution to this conflict.”
Both senior diplomats are in the Philippines to attend ASEAN meetings. They are expected to also discuss the war in the Middle East— a crisis in which Moscow has condemned U.S. attacks on its ally, Iran.
