🔻José Mourinho, the head coach of Real Madrid, admitted that to achieve a 3-2 victory against Elche in Tuesday night’s La Liga match, he took a major tactical gamble.
🔹Real Madrid initially went ahead by two goals thanks to an own goal by an Elche player and a goal by Kylian Mbappé, and it seemed like it would be an easy job to secure three points. However, Elche responded in the second half and, by scoring two goals, brought the match level.
🔹With a need for a win to get three points, Mourinho brought Carlos Espi and Endrick on, filling his team’s attacking line with six offensive players. In the end, this decision paid off, and in the 91st minute, Jude Bellingham, with a pass to Mbappé, set up the winning goal, and Mbappé then gave the ball to Espi so that he could score Real Madrid’s third.
🔹After the match, Mourinho spoke about his decision and said: «With the substitutions I made in the final minutes, I put everything at risk. We won, but we could have lost. We had to do it, because the draw wasn’t enough for us.»
