The Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran summoned Ukraine’s acting chargé d’affaires in Tehran following an attack on a vessel in the Caspian Sea.

According to a statement from the ministry, the attack caused an explosion on a “commercial vessel,” resulting in the death of a sailor and injuries to another person.

The two sides’ accounts do not match. On Saturday evening, Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, said that his country’s forces targeted vessels that had played a role in transporting military cargo to Russia and a warship. Neither side has named the vessel.
