Iran’s attacks on Kuwait; Kuwaitis’ account of air-raid sirens and ongoing insecurity

🔸 During the latest round of tensions between Iran and the United States, most of the attacks that the Islamic Republic says target U.S. bases and interests have focused on Kuwait.

🔸 Kuwaiti officials say that Iran’s attacks have also targeted some infrastructure.

🔸 In addition to creating fear among the people of Kuwait, this situation has disrupted the country’s economic and livelihood conditions as well.

🔸 The Financial Times reports that for many Kuwaitis, Iran’s attacks have brought back memories of Iraq’s attack during Saddam Hussein’s rule on Kuwait in 1990; an attack that led to the occupation of Kuwait, and ultimately U.S. forces and their allies drove Saddam’s army out in the operation known as “Desert Storm.”

🔸 According to this report, the sense of fear in Kuwait—still suffering from the damages caused by the attack by Iraq—is very strong.
