Investigations by Program 24 and a review of fresh images from Iran’s southern ports shows that, alongside the continuation of the U.S. maritime blockade, activity at Shahid Rajaee Port and Imam Khomeini Port has sharply decreased, and concerns about the situation of the Islamic Republic’s maritime trade have increased.

Farzin Nademi, a defense and security affairs analyst, said Shahid Rajaee Port—through which about 85% of Iran’s container trade is conducted—has suffered the greatest damage, and container traffic there has almost completely stopped. He added that despite the continued arrival of ships carrying foodstuffs and humanitarian goods to Khomini Port, rising insurance costs and restrictions resulting from the maritime blockade have sharply reduced the movement of commercial ships to Iran’s ports.
