Germany successfully tested an Israeli-made ballistic missile in the North Atlantic on Tuesday evening.

The test is taking place as Western powers seek to obtain long-range weapons against what they call Russia’s growing threat. Based on statements by officials from this country, the missile tested was the LORA, made by Israel Aerospace Industries.

According to a report by the Bild newspaper, two German frigates were sent to waters between Ireland and Iceland for this test.

Jan Christian Kaack, commander of the German Navy, said: “With the successful launch of a ballistic missile last night in the North Atlantic, we made naval history. I’m very pleased with this achievement.”

According to the German Ministry of Defense, the Israeli-made system has a range of up to 500 kilometers.
