Following U.S. attacks on southern Iran that have entered their eighth day, according to reports by official media inside Iran, some tunnels and communication routes in southern cities were targeted by the attack, and the published images indicate the disruption of road communications for people in this region. In addition, targeting vital infrastructure has now caused even greater water shortages and power outages for the people of southern Iran.
“Sina Ganbarpour,” a journalist who is from Khuzestan and who has lived and worked for years in different cities in southern Iran, in this regard explains in an interview with IranWire that how inequality in the distribution of facilities across cities in southern Iran, alongside the destruction of vital infrastructure and communication routes, has worsened living conditions for people in the south. As this journalist explains, the roads in southern cities had already been described as non-standard; now, with them being targeted, even that same minimum level of facilities has made conditions even more difficult than before.
