🔻Following heavy summer rainfall and river overflows in northern Iran, floods covered parts of northern Iran. The flood in Sari, the provincial capital, has inundated the entire city, and all offices have been closed. Power has been cut in some parts of the province.
The images shared on social media point to widespread flooding of streets as well as homes and businesses.
In addition to widespread flooding, strong winds and storms have also caused trees to be uprooted, power outages, and the blocking of communication routes.
Many users posted images of damage caused to their homes and businesses. The sharing of these images sparked many reactions, including discussions among social media users about non-standard construction, as well as concerns about safety—particularly the severe risk of electrocution and the collapse of roofs.
Due to the intensification of the rains and in light of weather warnings, the Mazandaran provincial administration announced that all offices would be closed on Tuesday, 17 Shahrivar.
The road police of Mazandaran Province has also asked drivers, given the activity of the severe weather system, to refrain from non-essential travel from the afternoon of Monday, 16 Shahrivar, until the morning of Wednesday, 18 Shahrivar.
