In a message that Iran’s official state media attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei, he called revenge for the killing of Ali Khamenei the “people’s will” and “certain,” and warned that those responsible for this attack will be buried with them an “aspiration for a peaceful death.”
The message also said that the act is not dependent on his own presence or that of other officials, and that “free people around the world” would carry out part of this mission.
The message was published after several days of Donald Trump’s open threats at the ceremony for the mourning and burial of Khamenei, and from official podiums of the Islamic Republic. Reuters reported that during the Tehran ceremony, placards with the message of killing Mr. Trump were seen, and in a speech before the Friday prayer sermons in Mashhad, Saeed Jalili, the representative of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic in the Supreme National Security Council, called revenge the “greatest right of the people.”
On Friday, July 10, before the publication of the new message from Mojtaba Khamenei, Mr. Trump warned on Truth Social that if the Islamic Republic were to carry out an assassination of the U.S. president or make such an attempt, “a thousand missiles” are ready to be launched and thousands more missiles would follow them.
