🎥 Far-right leads in Saxony-Anhalt with 44.5% of the vote

Initial results of the state election in Saxony-Anhalt show that the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) is in the lead with 44.5% of the vote; the Christian Democratic Party is in second place with 18.5%.

This result could be a historic success for Alternative for Germany and further strengthen the party’s position in eastern Germany. Ulrich Siegmund, the party’s top candidate in Saxony-Anhalt, called the election result “groundbreaking” and said it is a message to the federal government of Friedrich Merz.
