🔶 Expansion of Germany’s “Territorial Defense Unit” to more than 10,000 personnel
According to the commander of the so-called “Territorial Defense Unit” of the German Army (Heimatschutzdivision), the number of forces in this unit will increase significantly by 2035.
Lt. Gen. Andreas Hanne told the “German Editorial Network”: “At present, the projected number of our forces is 6,500 soldiers. But by 2035, this number will reach more than 10,000 people.”
He added: “We will form territorial defense battalions. We will establish support battalions, and the number of military personnel will also increase significantly.”
This military commander said the current number is sufficient to create initial capability: “Even now, we can protect infrastructure and ensure freedom of movement for our forces.” But according to him, this number is not enough for a prolonged conflict.
