🔶 China calls for the rapid restoration of security in the Strait of Hormuz
Following the renewed escalation of clashes between the United States and Iran over how to manage the Strait of Hormuz, the Chinese government urged both countries to do whatever is necessary as soon as possible to provide conditions for the safe passage of ships in this strategic waterway.
According to Agence France-Presse, Lin Jian, spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a press briefing: “The prompt return to normal and safe navigation through this strait is a shared demand of the international community.”
He added that Beijing would spare no effort to help reduce tensions in the region.
At the beginning of the war between the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, concerns about domestic access to fuel led China to limit the sale of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel to foreign customers.
