CENTCOM, in a statement, said that its forces destroyed five oil tankers carrying Iranian crude oil on September 8 (17 Shahrivar).

CENTCOM said the action was carried out after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, during the past two days, twice targeted a U.S. Navy warship with ballistic missiles.

CENTCOM said the American warship successfully fended off missile attacks from the Islamic Republic of Iran and continued patrolling in the waters of the region. In these attacks, none of the American forces were harmed.
