👈 CENTCOM: At 7:15 p.m. today Eastern Time, U.S. Central Command forces began their third round of attacks this week against Iran after an apparent attack by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the container ship M/V GFS Galaxy flying the flag of Cyprus, which was transiting the Strait of Hormuz. One civilian crew member is missing, and the ship cannot continue its journey due to a fire onboard and significant damage to the engine room.
After Iran was held responsible for previous attacks on commercial ships but failed again, another opportunity was given to demonstrate commitment to the memorandum of understanding to Iran.
In response, the United States continues to impose heavy costs by further weakening Iran’s ability to attack noncombatant mariners and commercial ships that freely transit the strait. These attacks are carried out at the direction of the Commander-in-Chief.
