Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior said that an air-raid alarm sounded again in the country just before 9 a.m. Manama time, for the third time on Monday.
The alarms were reactivated while, early Monday morning, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed an attack on the Sheikh Isa airbase in Bahrain, and the Ministry of Interior had asked citizens and residents to remain calm and go to the nearest safe location.
So far, no report has been published of casualties or damage.
Bahrain hosts the headquarters of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet. On Sunday as well, the air-raid alarm sounded three times in the country.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had attacked what it described as “U.S. military infrastructure in Juffair, Bahrain” and “long-range air radar and radar for detecting vessels in Oman.”
In a statement issued by the Guard Corps on Monday, it was claimed that the attacks led to fires in Bahrain and the “destruction” of the radars in Oman.
This claim by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has not been independently verified.
In the early hours of Monday, Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain’s air defenses were engaged with a new wave of missile and drone attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
