Axios, citing three informed sources, reported that Donald Trump, the U.S. president, will meet next Tuesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York with leaders of Gulf countries to discuss next steps in the war with the Islamic Republic.

According to the report, the main focus of the meeting is the United States’ proposals for a strategy after the end of the war, and the Trump administration is drafting a plan for that period, which is expected to be finalized after the U.S. midterm elections.

Axios sources said the leaders or foreign ministers of six Gulf Cooperation Council member states—Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman—will participate in the meeting. The U.S. State Department has sent initial invitations, and other Arab and Muslim countries may also be invited.

Axios also reported that Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, wants to meet with Trump in New York, but no such meeting has been scheduled yet.

On Wednesday, Trump expressed hope that the war is approaching its final stages and once again said that the Islamic Republic wants a deal with the United States.
