Amid the recent attacks between Iran and the United States in the Persian Gulf, images have been shared on social media today, 18 Shahrivar (September 9), showing the interception of Iran’s missiles in the night sky over Jordan.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps says that in these retaliatory missile attacks, it targeted two U.S. warships and eight oil tankers and succeeded in causing “damage” to the hangars of the U.S. F-15, F-16, and F-35 fighter jets in Jordan. Iran said the attacks were carried out in response to the United States’ attacks yesterday (17 Shahrivar) on five Iranian oil tankers.
Early Tuesday, 16 Shahrivar, after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reported the “capture” of a U.S. unmanned submarine, CENTCOM announced that, in response to Iran’s attack on U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf, it had attacked five Iranian oil tankers and “destroyed” them.
The U.S. attacks on the five Iranian oil tankers included four tankers in the Sea of Oman, and another tanker was targeted near Khark Island.
Today, 18 Shahrivar (September 9), the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) released a video of the Iranian oil tanker “MT Risco,” which was struck by a U.S. missile and sank in the Sea of Oman.
