Bloomberg reported that after attacks on three ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the passage of oil tankers through this strategic route has continued in a limited manner. Based on shipping data, six oil tankers began or completed their transit through Hormuz in the early hours of Wednesday, but one supertanker flying the Indian flag changed its course and returned after reaching near the Musandam Peninsula. The attacks are described as the largest cluster of maritime incidents since the temporary agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic last month. Shipping traffic for liquefied natural gas carriers also nearly stopped after an attack on a Qatari oil tanker, and concerns about disruption in Hormuz pushed the price of natural gas in Europe by about 10 percent over two days.
