🔶 IRIB: After warnings were ignored, an oil tanker was targeted in the Strait of Hormuz According to a report by The Associated Press, the state television of the Islamic Republic claimed that an oil tanker carrying liquefied natural gas off the coasts of Oman and in the Strait of Hormuz was targeted by an attack after the warnings were ignored. However, the Iranian government has not directly taken responsibility for the attack. Citing sources whose names were not disclosed, IRIB in its report implicitly suggested that the Islamic Republic carried out the attack on a tanker that was “transporting natural gas from Qatar,” although so far no official in the Islamic Republic has taken responsibility for the attack. Based on reports from the website Axios and The Wall Street Journal, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fired at least two missiles in the early hours of Tuesday, July 7 (July 16 on the Iranian calendar), toward commercial vessels that were passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Axios, citing a U.S. official, reported that two commercial ships sustained significant damage in the attack, but there were no human casualties.
