Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army at Beaufort Castle: We will continue decisively to eliminate threats ▪ The chief of staff of the Israeli army visited forces deployed around Beaufort Castle (Shqif) in southern Lebanon and pledged to continue carrying out operations against Hezbollah, the terrorist group supported by the Islamic Republic. ▪ Israeli forces seized Beaufort Castle, dating back to the era of the Crusades, and the surrounding area in June. This move gave the Israeli army a strategic position. The area had previously been under Israeli control for nearly two decades. ▪ Israel says it has discovered a network of tunnels under the castle, which were built to create a fortified base for an attack by Hezbollah forces, within a few miles of Israeli territory.
