When officials of the Islamic Republic show immediate reactions to an incident: lying and storytelling to fool the public
The public relations office of the Imam Reza Corps announced that two Basij forces named “Seyyed Sajjad Alavi” and “Mehdi Honarman” were targeted by gunfire in the vicinity of Serefrazan Square in Mashhad and were killed.
According to the IRGC statement, at the time of the incident these two Basij forces were patrolling in the Serefrazan Boulevard area, about 15 kilometers from the Imam Reza shrine. The incident occurred concurrently with the holding of the ceremony for the funeral and burial of Ali Khamenei in Mashhad.
The Imam Reza Corps has said that these forces were present in the region as part of missions to ensure security for the funeral and burial ceremony of Ali Khamenei.
In this incident, a pedestrian was also injured and was transferred to a hospital.
The announcement of the death of these two Basij forces comes as Amirollah Shamsghadari, the security deputy of the Khorasan Razavi governorate, said on Friday, the 19th of Tir, that the shooting on Serefrazan Boulevard in Mashhad was not a “terrorist act” and had its roots in a “personal dispute.”
News of this armed clash was published on the evening of the 19th of Tir, coinciding with Ali Khamenei’s burial. At that time, however, no details were released. Although a few hours after the clash, the Civil Aviation Organization reported the implementation of a “set of special measures” in Mashhad. Also, reports indicate that for several hours the exit routes from the city of Mashhad were closed and security measures in the city were significantly increased.
The incident occurred while Mashhad was hosting the final stage of the funeral and burial ceremonies of Ali Khamenei, and thousands of people traveled to this city to take part in the ceremony, with the city’s security at the highest level.
