The Deputy Special Coordinator of the UN for the Middle East peace process accused Hamas of interfering in the distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza and intimidating aid workers, warning that the group’s actions are making relief operations increasingly dangerous.
Ramiz Alakbarov, in a statement, said that Hamas’s actions have disrupted vital humanitarian operations.
The statement was issued after armed Hamas members, on Saturday, 20 Tir, entered a United Nations World Food Programme warehouse by force and beat two of its employees.
In his statement, Alakbarov warned that such actions, at a time when civilians across Gaza are facing severe hardships, prevent the delivery of critical lifesaving aid.
The European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel, along with some other countries, have placed Hamas on the list of terrorist groups.
