🔸 Fidan: We have no reason for direct confrontation with Israel
Turkey’s foreign minister, in an apparent effort to ease tensions with Israel, said in an interview with the newspaper National: “There is no reason for conflict and direct confrontation with Israel.”
Hakan Fidan said in this interview: “Whenever I hear this rhetoric and these slogans from Israeli politicians—especially as elections are approaching—I thank God that there are still many very rational and qualified people in this country who have wisdom and a strategic perspective.”
He added, saying that “apparently, Israel now needs another enemy”: “Not all of them in Israel are like Netanyahu and this group of people. Netanyahu and some others, as elections draw near, need an enemy. They were previously involved in wars with Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran, and now they need another enemy.”
The Turkish foreign minister continued: “For many Israeli politicians, this new enemy has now become Turkey.”
