In the era of Ali Khamenei, the Islamic Republic—through decades of regional adventurism, insistence on the nuclear project, and support for paramilitary groups—has exposed Iran to war, sanctions, economic devastation, and heavy human costs. Now too, despite an understanding with the United States, the violation of commitments and the continuation of provocative military actions have once again brought the flames of conflict onto Iranian soil.

As if the remaining military commanders, like their lost leader, are not defending Iran but defending their own survival; and once again, it is this people and this land, Iran, that are being turned into a shield for the costly and adventurous policies of theirs.
