South Korea said a cargo ship «Namoo», belonging to a South Korean company, which was damaged in May while passing through the Strait of Hormuz, would not leave the waterway before mid-July. According to Reuters, the hull of the bulk carrier was hit near the aft section. Seoul initially said the attack was likely carried out by a Revolutionary Guards anti-ship missile, and summoned the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to register a protest. However, the ambassador denied the Islamic Republic’s involvement in the attack. South Korean officials say two ships, including the Namoo, are now stopped in the Strait of Hormuz.
