🔶 Kushner and Witkoff arrived in Qatar The Qatari foreign ministry announced that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, senior representatives of Donald Trump, have arrived in Doha, but there will be no direct meeting with Iranian officials. A White House official also confirmed to CNN that Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law (the U.S. president), will meet and hold talks today in Doha with Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the prime minister of Qatar, and other regional mediators.
In Trump’s first presidential term, Kushner served as the senior negotiator for the Middle East and built very close relationships with regional leaders. Last year, Trump administration officials and people close to Kushner told CNN that he is unofficially advising members of the U.S. administration regarding negotiations with Arab leaders. Previously, he played a key role in shaping Trump’s Middle East policy, including the “Abraham Accords” (which led to normalization of relations between Israel and several Arab countries).
